Dear Parents and Carers
Appointment of an interim headteacher
As you are aware, the governors with the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust have been actively recruiting a substantive headteacher for September when Ms Walker leaves the school at the end of the summer term. The interviews held at the start of this term were unfortunately not successful in making a permanent appointment. However, we are beginning the recruitment process again towards the end of December with a view to appointing a substantive headteacher for April 2022.
After considering all the options, the governors with the Trust have decided that the best way forward would be to appoint an interim head, to lead the school from September until a permanent head can be secured.
I am pleased to tell you that we have now appointed Mrs Jenny Venning who is a very experienced headteacher. She has agreed to take up the post on an interim basis from September until the end of the Easter term 2022 providing a period of stability. We are confident that she is the ‘right fit’ for St Georges at this time. She will continue to drive up standards, building on the many successes of the school under Ms Walker’s leadership, continuing to uphold and develop its unique Christian distinctiveness and ethos.
Mrs Venning is a consultant headteacher, having led a number of schools, including church schools, in an interim capacity. She is currently headteacher at St John and St Francis Church School in Bridgwater, with 17 years as the substantive headteacher of three schools, two achieving Ofsted ‘outstanding’.
During the summer term, Mrs Venning will be spending time in St Georges to get to know our children, and staff, and to ensure a smooth handover from Ms Walker. She is also looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you. We will let you know more about the first welcome meeting for parents and carers nearer the time.
If you have any queries in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.
